2008 parody Presidential campaign

On August 6, 2008, Paris appeared in a 1 minute 50 second long video, “Paris Hilton Responds to McCain Ad”, directed by Adam McKay and posted on the Funny or Die website.

The video featured Paris in a parody advertisement, and was made in response to a television campaign advert “Celeb”, broadcast in 11 US states by the 2008 John McCain presidential campaign. In Celeb, McCain briefly compared his rival Barack Obama to that of celebrities such as Paris and Britney Spears, and goes on to question his readiness to lead and criticise his energy policy. Jessica Ann Simpson (*10 de julio de 1980, Abilene, Texas, EE.UU.), hija de un pastor de la Iglesia Bautista y de una profesora. Con doce años Jessica Simpson ya cantaba en el coro de la iglesia de su padre. A esa misma edad, participó en un concurso para el Club de Mickey Mouse, llegando a la final, en la que sufrió un ataque de nervios que le impidió participar. Ese mismo concurso sirvió para descubrir artistas de la talla de Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears y Justin Timberlake, entre otros.

Un años después firmó contrato con una productora de música gospel, tras ser escuchada por uno de sus cazatalentos. Jessica Simpson estuvo tres años preparando su primer álbum, pero la discográfica se fue a la quiebra y su sueño de grabar un disco se esfumó.

A pesar de las dificultades, la abuela de Jessica decidió financiar la grabación de una maqueta, que la propia cantante fue promocionando, hasta que llegó una copia del álbum a manos de Tommy Mottola, de la Columbia Records, quien decidió darle una oportunidad.

A finales de 1999, Jessica Simpson lanza su álbum debut, titulado “Sweet Kisses”, que llegó hasta el puesto 25 en las listas de Estados Unidos. De este álbum se vendieron más de dos millones de copias sólo en EEUU.
